Pre-Wedding Photography in Austria

Your wedding portraits.
An unforgettable trip together.

By Elias Choi-Buttinger

An Austrian photographer, here on the ground

I grew up in Austria and live in Upper Austria. I can help you weigh up the places you’ve saved against the season, access and time you actually have.

Local knowledge. A familiar connection.

My wife, Weng Teng (Wendy), is originally from Macau and joins us on your pre-wedding shoot. She helps with communication and translation, so you can ask questions, explain an idea and feel at ease throughout the day. For couples visiting from Hong Kong, mainland China or Macau, she brings a familiar cultural connection. Alongside my local knowledge of Austria, you have both of us there to support you.

Artistic direction with experience behind it

Roughly 12 years working professionally in contemporary dance, together with my work in choreography and film, have shaped how I notice posture, light and composition. I bring that attention to your portraits, from a full-length gown photograph to a close-up.

You plan directly with me

The person you discuss your shoot with is the photographer behind the camera. We can talk through what you love, what worries you and what you need the photographs for.

We’ve been on the other side of the camera, too

That’s me with my wife, Wendy. We wanted beautiful photographs of the two of us, too—so we chose Austria for our own pre-wedding-style shoot, even though our wedding had already taken place almost 10 years earlier.

Having that time together, surrounded by these mountains, gave us memories we’re so glad we made. We know the experience from both sides of the camera, and bring that understanding to your shoot.

A pre-wedding shoot, with the wedding still ahead.

Your ceremony and celebrations can happen at home. This trip gives you time for the portraits you’ve been imagining, without fitting them between guests and a reception.
Dress up, explore somewhere beautiful, and enjoy having this time together.

A look you’re excited about.

Bring a few photographs you love. We’ll discuss what draws you to them—perhaps dramatic scenery, elegant portraits or a more playful feel—and use that to give your shoot a clear direction.

A route that makes sense.

Start with the Austrian location guides. Then we’ll narrow the options around your travel dates, outfits and comfort with walking, rather than trying to squeeze every saved viewpoint into one day.

Ready for your celebration.

If you want photographs for invitations, a wedding slideshow or printed displays, tell me the date you need them. We’ll discuss editing and delivery timing before you book.

Planning from overseas? Start with these three things.

Your travel dates, your wedding date and the scenery you love

You don’t need to arrive with a finished itinerary. Send me your possible travel dates, when you’ll need the photographs and a few ideas for the setting. Whether you’re travelling from Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore or elsewhere, we can use those details to work out a sensible starting point.

Know what you’re booking before you arrange the rest

Your offer sets out the photography coverage, edited-image collection and delivery schedule. Location scouting and all my costs for the agreed shoot—including my travel, accommodation and cable-car tickets—are included in your photography price.

Your own travel, accommodation, tickets, outfits, hair and makeup, and any other services you choose are separate. We’ll make that clear before you book, so you can plan the rest of your trip.

Beautiful mountain portraits don’t have to mean a difficult hike.

Choose the view with your outfits in mind

A long dress, smart shoes and a mountain path need a realistic plan. Tell me how far you’re happy to walk and whether you want to change outfits. I’ll help you consider access, changing time and the light, so your preferred look fits the location. You can bring practical shoes for moving between photographs.

Plan for the weather before it becomes a worry

Mountain conditions can change, so we’ll discuss alternatives and the arrangements that apply if the planned location isn’t suitable. If your travel schedule allows some flexibility, mention it early. I can’t promise sunshine, but we can make decisions with your comfort and safety in mind.

You don’t need to arrive knowing how to pose.

Clear direction when you need it

I’ll help with where to stand, how to turn towards the light and what to do with your hands. We can take time over the elegant portraits you want, then loosen things up with a walk or some movement. You won’t be expected to work it all out while I watch from behind the camera.

A collection with variety

The wide view matters, and so do the photographs where you can really see each other. I look for a mix of setting, expressions, clothing details and the moments between the more directed portraits. Browse the portfolio to see whether that balance feels right for you.

Tell me how you’d like to use them

A portrait for your reception entrance? Images for a slideshow, invitations or an album? Sharing that early helps me understand the photographs you need as well as the ones you simply love. If a printer or designer has a deadline, bring that into our planning too.

Agree on the finished collection

Before booking, we’ll confirm what edited images your package includes, the delivery timeframe and any print or album requirements. Let’s also talk about your editing preferences: the portfolio shows my approach, and a few specific examples help us understand whether it suits what you have in mind.
